Here we publish information about the implementation of national advocacy for improving the implementation of the international standards in the penitentiary area in Bulgaria, conducted in the framework of the project. National advocacy is carried out through information meetings and discussions with stakeholders involved in the decision-making and execution of the state policy in the field of closed institutions - Ministry of Justice, General Directorate for the Execution of Sentences, the judiciary, the bar, the Ombudsman and others. The meetings aim at exchanging information on the problems in prisons and at providing reliable information on the current situation in prisons, obtained through fieldwork and analysis of case law through the prism of international standards and international obligations of Bulgaria, as well as at discussing specific steps for overcoming the identified deficits.
